Dr. Darby is a Lynchburg native. She is a graduate of Central Virginia Community College with an AAS in Medical Laboratory Technology and of Lynchburg College with a BA in Chemistry. In 2001 Dr. Darby graduated summa cum laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN where she received numerous awards for her clinical expertise. Dr. Darby is a member of the American and Virginia Optometric Associations and the Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to optometry school and while raising her family, Dr. Darby worked in the Lynchburg area as an optometric assistant, an optometric office manager and eventually an optician. Dr. Darby took those years of experience along with an outstanding education and degree in optometry to Pensacola, Florida where she opened a successful solo practice in 2001. Hurricane Ivan devastated the area in the fall of 2004 and she returned along with her husband, Jim, to her hometown.

Dr. Darby and Jim have 5 sons between them along with 4 beautiful daughters-in-law and 5 precious grandchildren with hopes of many more to come. With a family like that along with mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and “umpteen” cousins in the Lynchburg area, they love to cook and entertain. You’ve never had a rib until you’ve had one of Jim’s – Memphis style.
